Introduction

Secrets Beyond the Gates is an official add-on mod extension of the main Ancient Cache of Technologies that explores the custom backstory of the origins of the Fallen Empire and the secrets that lies beyond the scope of the local galaxy.

Every empire had a beginning, not all of them were humble. But many hid their secrets well, but what if those secrets are exposed? The Fallen Empires are ancient civilizations, but they are not the first. And with their many similarities in the technology they have, there must be a reason, a source where these enigmatic wonders came from.

This sub mod intends to offer a unique experience of fighting against a custom crisis created to provide more challenges for Higher Tier empires. Said crisis comes with their own story, personality, and goals and there're varying possible at the end.

Features

  • New Outer Gates as mysterious neutral megastructures, guarded by the equally mysterious Gatekeepers.

  • More interactions with the Fallen Empires and the dark deeds they held.

  • A New Crisis that challenges the player who have mastered the strategy of both Stellaris and ACOT

  • Ability to ascend beyond your past limitations at the end, if you prove yourself to be worthy.

  • New final tech tier, only obtainable by fighting the Crisis, or ascending to their status.

  • Death, Destruction, Decay, and Potential Late Game Lag Removal through totally not immoral genocide.

Known Issues and Limitations

  • Many stuffs are still WIP due to transitioning, this submod is very old, and in general need of new polishing.

  • The story, dialogue and plot is a bit on the uhh...eheh side. Most of the details are not readily explained or included in the gameplay itself.

  • Probably lots of typos. The writer is a Panada, who cannot be entrusted with quality spellchecks.

Balance

  • The fight can either be nigh impossible or cakewalk depending on how much you prepare.

Save and Mod Compatibility

  • Does not currently work on existing saves if you activate it mid-game.

  • Overwrites the following game rules: has_full_sensor_range, can_enter_system_by_jump, can_add_claim, can_get_claim_from_lost_system, can_spawn_occupation_armies, can_use_galactic_market, can_be_part_of_galactic_community, can_see_galactic_community, can_be_part_of_galactic_council

  • Some built-in compatibility and mod interactions with Gigastructures and ZOFE.

FAQ

Q: The AI killed the galaxy (Again) by activating the gates early.
A: Stop them, or go to the SBTG Option and disables AI from doing the thing.

Q: Why does the mod has a dumb story?
A: Some leftover mess due to previous narrative mess due to writer changes.

Q: Why can't I eat the Crisis when I win?
A: The Crisis likes to eat, but they don't like to be eaten. Eat something else, like the Taus or the Xenophile FEs for example.
