Ulysses - Atlantis Expedition Submarine

From Disney's Atlantis, comes the Ulysses Expedition Submarine. While there is no lost city to discover in Stormworks, the Ulysses is great for vehicle transport, rescue operations, exploration and firefighting.

HOW TO USE:

DO NOT USE INFINITE ELECTRIC

Everything runs just fine on low physics, EXCEPT the helicopter, which can only fly on medium or high physics

Start-up
- Go to the back of the sub and turn on Reactor Systems and Boiler systems
- Go to the front of the sub and confirm breakers are on

Driving
- Sub is limited to electric motors while the reactor is heating up
- Use left/right arrow keys to strafe away from the dock
- Use electric motor throttle to move
- Once the reactor status board at the rear of the bridge is all lit up green, high-speed throttle can be used.
- W/S pitch, A/D yaw

Diving
- Ballast controls are left of the helm, fill and drain buttons.
- The sub cannot dive at high speed, slow down to electric motors only
- Use the dive angle lever to the right of the helm to dive, depth hold is automatic
- Alternatively, use up/down arrow keys for fine control of depth, as displayed on the upper right
- Once underwater, you can speed up again
- Sub can also be driven without depth hold, using the Manual vertical thruster control to reduce your buoyancy, and W/S for pitch control

Cargo loading
- MANUAL VERTICAL THRUSTER CONTROL MUST BE AT MAXIMUM (0.8) BEFORE OPENING CARGO DOORS. BALLAST MUST BE EMPTY OR NEAR EMPTY. The sub will flood otherwise.

- When at max vertical thrust, the main propellors will be out of the water. You can use the Slow maneuvering thruster throttle in this case.
- Door controls are next to each door, and also in the bridge
- Open door, press ramp out button.
- Ramp must be physically pushed out of the sub in order to lock in place
- Ramp controls are on the ramp itself, mags and winches can help connect it to the dock or other vessels.
- Cargo hold can fit 3 containers, or several trucks.

Launching the helicopter
- Empty ballast, vertical thruster control to maximum
- Disconnect and store ropes
- Use gantry controls on the wall, gantry out until it reaches the cargo ramp
- Press rotate button until heli is facing whichever door you want to exit out
- Press release button
- Open cargo door and deploy ramp, extending it flat (ramp must be physically pushed into position)
- Press rotor fold button on back of heli
- Get in, turn on ignition, and fly (MEDIUM OR HIGH PHYSICS ONLY)

Launching the evac sub
- Do not launch at high speed, keep the mothership under 20 knots
- Evac bay is behind the engine room
- Look up at the ceiling, grab handles to get up to evac sub
- Enter evac sub, turn on main power
- Turn on interior and exterior lights (top left)
- Press launch button (bottom left)
- W/S forwards/backwards
- Up/down to control depth. Depth hold is automatic
- Evac sub has limited battery range, but it can be tethered to the mothership with a cable for infinite battery life and 150m of cable length

Emergency surface
- Enables surfacing when sub is too full of water for electric thrusters to work
- Reactor must be fully repaired and operational
- RPS connections and the 4 vertical thrusters (located inside the ballast tanks) must be fully repaired and operational
- Enter helm and turn key above your head
- If sub is upside-down, use the Reverse vertical thrust button. It will unlock when Emergency Surface key is activated.
- Once off the seabed, apply full electric motor throttle
- Open cargo doors at surface to drain faster, door controls are above the helm

Beacon locator
- Uses old school tech
- Only turn it on once you're within the search radius, it tends to be buggy if activated too far away
- Locator will search for a signal, and once found and locked on to, the dial in front of the helm will point towards the target

Damage control
- In the event of high speed impact or sea monster attack, the Ulysses will lose power
- Restore power by activating the circuit breakers just outside the bridge
- Number 1 repair priority is the nuclear reactors and the controllers in the corridor beneath it
- Number 2 repair priority is the Systems battery at the front of the ship, bottom deck
- Number 3 repair priority is anything related to the Emergency Surface system, including the black or orange RPS pipes from the reactor to the thrusters, and the thrusters themselves.
- Number 4 repair priority is the controllers inside the Systems room near the bridge, and the bridge itself.

For vehicle mods

  1. Download the .zip archive containing the vehicle mod files.
  2. Locate your game's root folder.
  3. Navigate to rom\data\preset_vehicles_advanced and extract the files there.
  4. Rename both files to something recognizable, ensuring they share the same base name but different extensions.
  5. Launch the game and go to the Workbench's Presets tab to see the new vehicle mod.
