P-122 Talon Offshore Patrol Vessel

The P-122 "Talon" Offshore Patrol Vessel was the Newquay Maritime Branch's answer to the need for a low cost Offshore Patrol Vessel to provide Search & Rescue and Fisheries & Environmental Protection duties in Territorial Waters and Exclusive Economic Zones. The preceding P-117 "Phoenix", P-118 "Templar", and P-119 "Tresco" Combat boats were capable of conducting these operations to a degree, however, lacking the ability to operate Rigid-Hulled Inflatable Boats limited there ability to effectively carry out these operations. As a result of the high cost of developing the previous hulls the budget was limited so the "Talon" was designed with a shortened version of the standard hull design, the propulsion set-up of the "Tresco", and the fitting of the older but modernised L40/44M "Sabretooth" Manually Operated Dual Purpose Autocannons, which would be more than sufficient for use in the role the vessel is expected to operate within. However, to increase lethality, the JTAC System utilised on the P-111 "Drache" and P-421 "Hussar" has been equipped to allow the vessel to designate GPS coordinates for fire missions launched from larger vessels and aircraft.

START-UP PROCEDURE:

In The Bridge:
- On the Panel to the Right of the Helm Turn on the Fuel Pumps (2nd Row Down)
- On the same Panel turn on the Engines (Top Row)
- On the same Panel Turn on the Generators (3rd Row)
- Turn on the Shaft Clutch (Left Button in 4th Row)
- Turn on the Electric Motors (Bottom Row)
- Throttle up the Electric Motor Clutch Lever

*In the Bridge:
- Enter the Bridge and Turn on the Lights you need (Aft of the Helm)
- On the Panel Above the Lights you will find the Bilge Pumps and Magazine Fire Suppression, it is suggested you dont turn the magazine fire suppression on unless there is a fire.

*In the Engine Room:
- The Fire Main Line is pumped through the engine room, you will need to charge (Pressurise) it from there before it is ready to use.

RHIB LAUNCH AND RECOVERY:

Launch:
- Disconnect the Port and Starboard Ropes.
- Pump In 2,000L of Water if travelling at or above 12 knots, 5,000L if stationary.
- Extend the Winch to 10m.
- Unlock the Rail Brake.
- Push or Reverse the RHIB out of the bay.
- Disconnect the Bow Line.

Recovery:
- Flood the Stern to the Amount of Water specified above.
- Drive the RHIB into the bay.
- Connect the Bow Line.
- Engage the Rail Brake.
- Connect the side Ropes.
- Pump the water out.

HOW TO USE WEAPONS:

L40/44M "Sabretooth" Dual Purpose Autocannon:
- The Guns are manually controlled so you must sit in the seat, pitch is controlled with W/S, Yaw with A/D.
- Arm the gun by turning on Master Arm.
- Select a Fire Mode, Single will fire one per trigger pull or if you hold the trigger, Automatic acts as a Toggle and will continue firing until you pull the trigger again.
- Radar Azimuth Targeting provides a small amount of Yaw Assist in tracking a target.
- These are not dedicated Anti-Aircraft Guns, if you choose to engage aircraft you will need to manually aim in the pitch axis and manually lead in the yaw axis.
- The forward L40M has by default AP Rounds loaded and its below deck magazines are a mix of AP and HE Rounds, the Aft gun magazine only carries HE Rounds.
- Guns are manually Reloaded.

L97 Mod 1 7.62mm GPMG:
- Use the control handle, use mouse to aim, the 0-point for movement is down the gunsights.
- Use the Trigger to Fire.

C88M Watercannon:
- Ensure the Fire Main Line has been Charged.
- On the Port Bridgewing use the control handle.
- Pitch is controlled by W/S and Yaw is controlled by A/D.
- Fire the Cannon with Trigger, it's on a Toggle so you don't need to hold it.

JTAC Target Designator:
- The turn on the monitor.
- Aim at the Target Coordinates that you wish to designate with the onscreen buttons.
- Press the LAS Onscreen Button.
- On the Radio to the Left, select the channel the receiving station is using.
- Flip the Send Laser GPS Coordinate switch and the coordinates will be sent to the Receiving Station.
- The Receiving Station now has target coordinates to call in a strike with, how you conduct the strike is up to you.
