Vanilla Storytellers Expanded is a brand new mod series featuring standalone storytellers, bringing new, unique mechanics to the game.

“Freya believes that best stories are those of raids and glory. Every year after the first year, at the start of Aprimay your settlement will become increasingly unhappy until you send your colonists on an adventure or a raid, and bring back the spoils of war. She also limits technology to pre-industrial only.”

Freya Fierce comes with the following traits:

Technology limited to Medieval
Upon world generation, this storyteller will prevent factions past medieval from spawning.

Raid Restlessness
This storyteller will make your colonists increasingly unhappy if Aprimay begins and no mission outside of your map has completed. The faction will receive a -15 debuff stacking up to 4 times. In order to reset this meter, player needs to form a caravan and either complete any out-of-your-map encounter or raid another settlement.

Random events
This storyteller will fire random events without any regard for how your colony is doing. Whilst the events still scale with wealth, their type - good, neutral, bad - is completely random, just like with Randy.

Q: How do I use this storyteller?
A: In order to benefit from the world locked to medieval era, start a new save with this storyteller. Do not change the storyteller to any other one, as it will re-enable post-medieval factions.

Q: Can I change to this storyteller mid-save?
A: Absolutely, however it won't apply the Medieval era effect - this is only applied on creating a new save.

Q: Does it work with Combat Extended?
A: It’s a storyteller. It should do.

Q: Will you keep updating the mod with new content?
A: This is a singular storyteller mod. Development work on it has been finished.

Q: Is it compatible with X mod?
A: It is compatible with majority, if not all, mods.

Q: Can I play this mod alongside Vanilla Factions Expanded - Vikings?
A: Yes, you can, you will have two Freya Fierce storytellers - One limits technology to medieval, one doesn’t.

Q: How is this storyteller different to Freya Fierce in Vikings?
A: This version of Freya also limits technology to Medieval only.

Q: I am having an issue about duplicate ThoughtDefs, what do I do?
A: It's harmless and safe to ignore - it's because you have both Freya Fierce and Vikings mod active. It does no harm, please proceed.

How do I download and install mods?

Simply click the blue button above. It will open the file hosting page with the mod repacked by us from the official source.

How do I install this mod?

See the 'How to install' tab.

Is this mod safe to use?

The mods are repacked as is, without any additional software, malware, or bloatware added. To check for viruses, use a reliable antivirus or upload the archive to a website like virustotal.com. Anyway, It's always a good practice to keep backups of your saves in case of mod incompatibility .

There is a folder in the .zip archive. To install the mod, move the entire folder (not just its contents) into 'Mods' folder located under your RimWorld root isntallation folder.
So, for steam version of the game, the path would look like this: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RimWorld\Mods
For any other distribution, firstly locate your rimworld installation path and then unpack the archive into the 'Mods' folder.
Then enable the mod in the game mods menu by double clicking on its name and restart the game
