1.6 (01/04/2021): added Megafauna patch retextures

Vanilla Textures Expanded - Genetic Rim is a full-scale overhaul of Genetic Rim textures, with its main aim being improving the quality of the artwork and make it more in-line with textures of Vanilla game and Vanilla Expanded mod series.

This texture pack includes over 550 textures remade in vector-based software (same method used for Vanilla Expanded mods and vanilla game), exported into higher resolution for a cleaner, more sophisticated outcome.

When redrawing the Genetic Rim textures, our main focus was on keeping them consistent with what players are used to - We only applied drastic changes to artworks that weren’t as logical or aesthetically pleasing. The way we did it, is we analyzed the animals that create a given mutation, and then applied their traits onto a new creature.

Since this mod is a simple texture replacement, it will be compatible with everything. In case you’re running other Genetic Rim texture replacement mods, make sure to place them BEFORE this one in the mod load order in order to have them prioritized.

Note that since some of the textures have changed considerably, the Giddy-Up saddles in some hybrids might look unaligned or out of place completely. This requires a lot of work and will be worked on in the future.

Please report any bugs in the comment section below.

Q: Is this mod CE compatible?
A: Yes, it’s a simple texture pack.

Q: Is this mod compatible with 1.0 and 1.1?
A: Yes, this mod will work with both versions of Genetic Rim.

Q: I don’t like a particular retexture that you did. How can I turn it off?
A: Because textures are loaded on game restart, we were unable to create a mod options menu button that would work without causing considerable lag. If you don’t like a particular texture, you have to navigate to your workshop folder where the game downloads all the mods, and then simply locate the texture and <delete> it. This will stop it from overwriting vanilla textures.

Q: Can I request a retexture?
A: This mod is pretty much complete, but we are looking into retexturing other mods!

Q: Is this mod save game compatible?
A: Yes, you can add it and remove it whenever you like.

Is this mod safe to use?

The mods are repacked as is, without any additional software, malware, or bloatware added. To check for viruses, use a reliable antivirus or upload the archive to a website like virustotal.com. Anyway, It's always a good practice to keep backups of your saves in case of mod incompatibility .

There is a folder in the .zip archive. To install the mod, move the entire folder (not just its contents) into 'Mods' folder located under your RimWorld root isntallation folder.
So, for steam version of the game, the path would look like this: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RimWorld\Mods
For any other distribution, firstly locate your rimworld installation path and then unpack the archive into the 'Mods' folder.
Then enable the mod in the game mods menu by double clicking on its name and restart the game
